Red Bull's Max Verstappen beat Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to pole position at the Miami Grand Prix.

Verstappen was 0.141 seconds quicker than Leclerc as the two men finished first and second in qualifying, just as they have in all competitive sessions so far in Miami.

Carlos Sainz made it a Ferrari two-three ahead of the second Red Bull of Sergio Perez.

McLaren's Lando Norris could not find the pace he demonstrated at times on Friday but will line up fifth for the race ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Those blue suits don't quite pop as much as the red when Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are flanking polesitter Max Verstappen.

What a day. Is this new format of having the sprint race followed by main qualifying better than before?

The Hollywood stars will be out in force tomorrow for the Miami Grand Prix, but I think we'd trade every single one of them in for a race packed with decent track action instead. We can dream.

Thanks a lot for your company again, folks. Get yourselves back here at 20:00 BST on Sunday for build-up.

    See you tomorrow!

'We know there's pace in this car' - Brown

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will share the third row of the grid on Sunday in fifth and sixth respectively.

"Solid show in qualifying, plenty we can do from P5 and P6 on the starting grid tomorrow," McLaren boss Zak Brown has written on X, formerly Twitter.

"We know there's pace in this car to fight for a podium."

'Every single lap is a bit of an adventure' - Sainz

Carlos Sainz will start on the second row in third for tomorrow's grand prix, he said: "Honestly a bit of a shame this morning, I couldn't get past Daniel [Ricciardo] but I knew that the pace was there, I knew that attacking in quali I could have been in the top three and we managed to do some clean laps.

"It's really tricky around here with a new soft, every single lap is a bit of an adventure with the wind and you don't know what's going to happen, keeping all of this in mind, the laps were not too bad."

On tomorrow and the conditions, he added: "You always finish a lap and you think you could have gone so much faster having a cleaner lap, but it's almost impossible putting out a clean lap around here, there's always one place you will slide, one place you overheat the tyre, one place where the wind hits you different and you start struggling so it's a very tricky balance, very tricky track to drive. That's why being P3 on the clean side of the road for tomorrow might be a good start."

On the crowd, he said: "It's amazing like always in Miami. Every time we come every year, the fans are really good energy and they give us good vibes and we enjoy coming here a lot."

'I felt so much on the limit' - Leclerc

Charles Leclerc, who will start the Miami Grand Prix second on the grid: "I felt so much on the limit. It was very close until Q3, where we started to push for the last one or two tenths. We started to lose the tyres in sector two and three, overheating them quite a bit. Today that's where we lost a little bit of time.

"However, the race is long and this morning we showed a good pace, so I hope tomorrow we can put Max under a bit more pressure."

On how crucial the start of the race will be: "Yes, this, and keeping the DRS so we don't get passed by Turn One. DRS is super powerful there. If we lose it after the first lap, it's always difficult to come back within DRS, so we must not lose it. Today we had a good start and tomorrow I will try and have an even better one."

'It wasn't the most enjoyable lap of my career' - Verstappen

Max Verstappen took his first pole in Miami and said afterwards: "We definitely improved the car a bit but I don't know what it is but every single year we come here I find it extremely difficult to be very consistent with the car and tyre feeling over one lap. It's super hard to make sure that sector one feels good and sector three at the end of the lap to make that happen together is incredibly tough.

"Again today it was really about finding that balance, I think we did OK, it wasn't the most enjoyable lap out of my career especially with how slippery it is and you aren't very confident on the lap but we are on pole and that's the most important.

"It feels more under control which I was looking which I was looking for so hopefully that will help us out tomorrow, but we will find out."

Well we never doubted it, Verstappen top of course, two Ferraris second and third, at least splitting the Red Bulls for the race tomorrow. It was a bit of an anti-climax at the end of that qualifying.

Hamilton leaves on mediums and so has Russell, so the Mercedes are copying the McLaren of Norris, and Norris has gone onto softs, so he has copied everyone else and there is still head scratching going on over what the fastest tyre is.
