Police investigate arson on multiple vehicles in Île-Bizard

Published Apr 25, 2024 • Last updated Apr 25, 2024 • 1 minute read For the third time in four days, Montreal police are investigating a case of arson committed on multiple vehicles. The latest incident occurred early Thursday in Île-Bizard and saw three cars destroyed after they were deliberately torched. Article content Police said they were alerted to the fire by a 911 call at 3:45 a.m. reporting that three vehicles were ablaze at a private property on Laurier St. near Chèvremont Blvd. A few minutes later, other calls were received reporting the sound of an explosion coming from the site. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, but the vehicles were described by police as a "total loss." Surveillance cameras captured images of two suspects fleeing the scene, and firefighters found traces of flammable accelerants at the site. There were no injuries reported and as of sunrise Thursday, no arrests had been reported. The Île-Bizard incident comes three days after two cases of arson committed on parked vehicles were reported in the city's Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district and in the borough of Montreal North.
