Brantford police capture suspect wanted for sexual assault in Windsor

Carlos Leon was wanted by Windsor police after officers with the major crimes unit launched an investigation earlier this month after receiving information of an alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 16. He faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, failure to comply with a release order and breach of probation. Police said Leon has previous convictions for sexual offences. In other police news, two people have been charged drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop by Windsor police. Officers with the problem-oriented policing unit stopped a vehicle Monday in the 1600 block of Church Street and arrested two individuals for alleged breach of release orders. During a search of the vehicle, police said they found 28.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 7.6 grams of crack cocaine, a hand-held taser, two digital scales and $3,800 in cash. A 48-year-old man was charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, two counts of possession — one for the crystal methamphetamine and one for crack cocaine — for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order. A 34-year-old woman was charged for possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order.
