Anticipation continues to heighten by the day as Real Madrid's grand showdown with Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League final draws closer.

After overcoming some of the heavy-hitters and favourites of the competition such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich, the Merengues are locking horns against a team that was not foreseen to have made it this far.

But the dark horses of the Champions League are not expected to make the final a cakewalk for Real Madrid and underestimating them could prove to be fatal.

Borussia Dortmund coach touches upon the clash

Reflecting on the upcoming match in a press conference, Borussia coach Edin Terzic relayed an optimistic tone with the German-Croatian confident of his team's chances.

Despite the Merengues being known to be invincible in finals, Terzic boldly declared, "This is the time for Real Madrid's run of eight wins in eight finals to end."

As such, Terzic is not content with simply picking up a silver medal for participation but intends to bring the elusive trophy back home once more.

"We are not satisfied with just being in the final. We want to bring the trophy to Dortmund now. We haven't been this close for a long time. It's been a damn long time," he exclaimed.

The 41-year-old coach acknowledged that the focus and preparation of the team are concentrated solely on this crucial match, as understandably they are prioritizing this game above all else.

"The absolute final boss is waiting. We're breaking everything down to this one game. In a game, anything is possible. If anyone has shown that, it's us," he remarked.

Considering Borussia defeated heavyweights like Atletico Madrid and PSG before cementing a spot in the final, Terzic's sentiments hold weight and thus Real Madrid cannot afford to be complacent in the upcoming showdown.
