Patna: A day ahead of second-phase polling for five Lok Sabha seats in the state, Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday launched savage attacks on PM Narendra Modi , charging him with making attempts to "destroy the Constitution and democracy." He also accused the BJP of distributing "cash" among the voters to influence polling. "You won 39 out of 40 LS seats in Bihar in the last elections, but what have you done for the state in the past 10 years? Why don't you talk about people's issues at your rallies?" Tejashwi, who is the lone star campaigner from his party, said. Tejashwi reacted venomously shortly after the Rupauli police arrested two persons close to RJD candidate from Purnia, Bima Bharti, for travelling with huge cash late Wednesday night. The police are investigating the case. As per reports, they were carrying about Rs 10 lakh in cash. In a video message issued on Thursday, Tejashwi took potshots at the PM for doing just nothing for the state even after winning 39 out of state's total 40 Lok Sabha seats in the last LS elections.
Alleging that the poor are turning poorer by the day, the RJD leader accused the PM of snatching away the reservations granted to the backwards, Dalits and the deprived sections of the society and also slammed him for trying to "destroy Constitution and democracy." "Why do you want to do away with the Constitution and democracy?" he asked PM.
The RJD leader also accused the national BJP president JP Nadda of working against the established norms during the election time. "I have the information that Nadda ji came with five bags while visiting Bihar on Wednesday and distributed 'cash' wherever he went," he alleged, while talking to reporters on Thursday. Claiming that he was not speaking lie, Tejashwi further alleged that the central agencies were openly helping the BJP.
Bharti is caught in a triangular contest with JD(U)'s Santosh Kushwaha and Independent candidate Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who jumped into the fray after being denied ticket from this seat. Yadav had joined the Congress just ahead of poll but the seat went to the RJD under the seat-sharing arrangement, leaving him out in the cold. Eventually, Yadav jumped in the poll arena.
