Silchar: A 15-month-old girl died in

Hailakandi district

due to

swine flu

(

H1N1

) virus, while four persons from Cachar district were infected with the virus, health officials said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Farhana Khanam, a resident of Saidpur in Lala block of the district.

A Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) official said Farhana, who was in a critical condition, was undergoing treatment at SMCH.

However, the hospital authorities had to release her after her parents refused to let her be treated. She died at home on Sunday morning.

Health department sources said four more individuals in the age group of four months to 13 years have been infected with swine flu in Cachar district and are undergoing treatment.
