Surat: Even as the

Congress

candidate for Surat Lok Sabha seat,

Nilesh Kumbhani

, continues to remain underground after his nomination was rejected,

protest

against him is growing in the Diamond City. On Thursday,

AAP

workers declared him 'wanted' and put up posters with his image calling him the 'murderer of democracy and traitor'.

Earlier, an AAP delegation met the district election officer and election observers with a demand for action against Kumbhani for forgery in the nomination process.

Kumbhani's form was cancelled on Sunday after his three supporters filed affidavits that they had not signed the nomination form.

On Sunday Kumbhani went underground and is not in touch even with his family or party members. His family members returned home on Wednesday and told media persons that Kumbhani was not in their touch. The family members claimed that he went to Ahmedabad to discuss the issue with party leaders.

Congress leadership in the city claimed that Kumbhani was not in their touch and did not send any message about his intentions. The party had earlier planned to get Kumbhani file a petition in Gujarat high court but the plan did not work as he remains underground.

AAP worker Dinesh Kachhadiya put up the posters declaring Kumbhani 'wanted'. He went to the police station to lodge a complaint against Kumbhani.

"Due to the fraud done by Kumbhani, people will not get to vote. Hence I am demanding legal action against him," said Kachhadiya. However, police refused to register an FIR against Kumbhani. "Kumbhani cheated 19 lakh voters of Surat and people will not forgive him ever. We will teach him a lesson for his act," added Kachhadiya.
