Congress releases list of 8 candidates for Lok Sabha polls in Haryana

The Congress on Thursday released its first list of eight candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana slated to be held on May 25.

The party has fielded state Youth Congress president Divyanshu Buddhi Raja against former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal constituency. Similarly, it has fielded former Haryana Congress president Kumari Selja from Sirsa seat.

The party has named former MP Jai Prakash as its Lok Sabha candidate from Hisar and Mulana MLA Varun Chaudhary as its candidate from Ambala.

Congress leader Satpal Brahmachari will contest the elections from Sonepat, while Deepender Singh Hooda has been fielded from Rohtak and Mahendra Pratap from Faridabad.

The party has nominated Mahendragarh MLA Rao Dan Singh from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seat, instead of former MP and working president of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Shruti Chaudhary.

Elections for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will take place in the sixth phase of elections on May 25. The 10 constituencies are - Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurugram and Faridabad.

The BJP swept the Lok Sabha polls in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, winning all 10 seats.
