While the iPhone 16 is still months away, leaks are already suggesting expected changes to next year's iPhone 17 series. Apple is rumoured to replace the iPhone 17 Plus next year with the iPhone 17 Slim. Why? What will be new? How it will be different? Know what leaks suggest.

iPhone 17 Slim: Display Size

The rumoured as the "iPhone 17 Slim," is expected to boast a 6.55-inch display, a slight reduction from the previous models, according to analyst Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants.

iPhone 17 Slim: Differentiation

The smaller display of the iPhone 17 Plus aims to distinguish it from the iPhone 17 Pro Max while remaining larger than the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, which are expected to feature 6.1- and 6.3-inch displays, respectively.

Analyst Jeff Pu suggests that the iPhone 17 series could feature a revamped design, including improvements to the front camera and a smaller Dynamic Island, among other enhancements.

Pu suggests that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim and iPhone 17 Pro may adopt a new aluminium design, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max could retain titanium construction. The Pro Max version may also feature a narrower Dynamic Island, enabled by innovative "metalens" technology for the proximity sensor.

All four models of the iPhone 17 series are rumoured to sport 24MP front-facing cameras, a major upgrade compared to the current 12MP front-facing cameras used by Apple. This upgrade aligns with previous reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
