Adityanath said the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Congress have questioned the existence of Ram and Krishna.

While addressing a Lok Sabha election rally in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reiterated that after Ayodhya and Kashi, it is time for the Braj region of the state to shine. Campaigning for the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate in Fatehpur Sikri, 64 km from Mathura, Adityanath also hit out at the Opposition parties for "questioning the existence of Ram and Krishna".

"Ab Braj Bhoomi ka number aane wala hai. Ayodhya aur Kashi (Varanasi) ne apne lakshya ko pa liya. Ab aapki baari hai (It's now the turn of the Brij region after Ayodhya (Ram Janmabhoomi) and Kashi (Vishwanath temple) achieved their goals (through the building of temple). It's your turn now)," said Adityanath.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Raj Kumar Chahar, the sitting MP and national president of the party's Kisan Morcha, from the Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha constituency. Chahar is up against the BSP candidate Ram Niwas Sharma and Congress's Ram Nath Sikarwar in Fatehpur Sikri, where voting will be held on May 7.

Adityanath said the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Congress have questioned the existence of Ram and Krishna. "In logon ko keh do ki vote to kamal ko denge aur tumhe paanch saal ki chutti. Tum mafia ki kabra per Fatiha padho (Just tell these people that you will vote for the lotus symbol and send them on a five-year leave. They can recite the Fatiha on the graves of criminals)".

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister was referring to the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's visit to the parental house of deceased mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in the first week of this month to express condolences to his family members.

"Let these parties crave even for a single vote as they raised doubts on the existence of our deities," he added.

Yogi Adityanath said while the BJP emphasises nationhood, those in Opposition raise issues of castes, communities and dynasties. "Beware of such elements as they weaken the country through their parochial outlook of considering castes, communities or familial roots before extending welfare schemes to the people. But the BJP ensures Sabka Saath, Sabka vikas. Our welfare schemes are extended to every citizen of our community without any bias on caste and communal lines. Security and development for all but appeasement to none is our motto," he said.

He reiterated Pakistan got a larger geographical area and smaller population as compared to India in 1947, but now 23 crore people in Pakistan have no food while in India not only 80 crore people are getting free rations but at least 22 crore people have been pulled out of the poverty line during the last 10 years. He added 2.5 crore people have got free electricity besides being benefited by myriad other schemes implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He accused the leaders of the SP, BSP and Congress of finding ways to usurp the money due to poor people and farmers but said Prime Minister Modi has launched several welfare measures for them and opened Jan Dhan accounts in banks to mitigate corruption as the government money is directly sent to accounts of poor people as well as farmers.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in Uttar Pradesh in all seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4.
