MS Dhoni's retirement has been the subject of debate in the last couple of years. Amidst all the rumours after last year's IPL final the former CSK skipper has been involved in all the IPL 2024 matches so far.

Dhoni's performance hasn't been up to the mark as the 42 year old as he has barely managed to accumulate 110 runs in 11 matches with his highest score being a paltry 37 so far.

But Dhoni's popularity has only grown multiple fold in recent times as people have gathered at stadiums particularly to get a glimpse of the former Team India skipper. CSL recorded a comfortable victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL and further boosted their playoff hopes.

An ardent Dhoni fan was seen holding a placard of a famous song "Abhi na jao chhod kar ke dil abi bhara nahi" in the stands. Former CSK batsman, Suresh Raina who happened to be commentating at that time saw the placard and sang the song as the lyrics depict one to not leave as the heart isn't satiated yet.

Dhoni has been one of India's most successful wicketkeepers and he is also referred to as 'captain cool' for his on field actions. This could be Dhoni's last dance on this grand stage as the 42 year old also handed the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The win over CSK lifted CSK to third place and they are one of the title contenders this season. Ravindra Jadeja's all round show helped CSK to tame down PBKS but they cannot take things for granted as alongside them two other teams are also on 12 points.

The race for the IPL playoffs has already intensified and CSK will be one of the teams to watch out for. The defending champions have had their fair share of struggles this time but they still do pose a threat to all the other teams.

CSK will now face the Shubman Gill led Gujarat Titans on May 10 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
