Pakistan's ace fast bowler Mohammad Amir is encountering a visa delay before the impending Ireland tour. The Babar Azam-led team is scheduled to face Ireland in a three-match T20I series commencing on May 10. However, as the Men in Green prepare to depart for the showdown against the Irish team, they will be deprived of the services of their premier pacer, Amir. His visa approval is still pending from the authorities, reportedly due to his past incarceration in a spot-fixing case, according to PCB sources.

The aftermath of the 2010 spot-fixing scandal, including Amir's imprisonment and subsequent ban, continues to resurface as he grapples with visa complications. This isn't the first time Amir has faced such issues; a similar visa hurdle arose in 2018 due to the same reason. However, the cricket board remains optimistic that this matter will be swiftly resolved. According to sources, there's a possibility that Amir may join the Pakistan squad in Ireland within the next two or three days.

"Because of the spot-fixing case of 2010 and his subsequent jail term and ban his visa is still being processed. We are hopeful he will get his visa in a day or two and he can join them later," the source said according to PTI.

The upcoming tours to Ireland and England hold significant importance for Pakistan as they gear up for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024. These series will serve as crucial preparation grounds for the Men in Green, who aim to finalize their 15-member squad for the mega tournament. With these aspirations in mind, the team eagerly anticipates the swift resolution of Mohammad Amir's visa issues. Any complications, particularly with his US visa, could prove detrimental to the former champions' preparations.
