BTS Controversies: Kpop group BTS is currently on a break to complete their mandatory military service and work on their solo projects. Amid their absence from the limelight, the group has been involved in some controversies and their agency HYBE has been accused of doing chart-rigging practices. It was also reported that South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will order an investigation into this case as well. These accusations have divided the internet as fans supported BTS, whereas, some criticised Hybe. Amid the chart rigging accusations on BTS, take a look at the other times the group was involved in the controversies.

1. Jungkook, V and RM's smoking scandal

BTS member RM, V and Jungkook got caught up in the controversy after their pictures of smoking were leaked online. RM accidentally posted a picture on Instagram in which he was seen smoking but deleted it later. Jungkook was seen smoking outside a restaurant, whereas, V was caught smoking ahead of Grammys.

2. RM's Islamophobic scandal

RM shared the song 'Bad Religion' on his Instagram story. After the 'Wild Flower' singer posted the screenshot, 'RM apologies to Muslims' started trending on X as the song was previously in controversy. Frank Ocean's song 'Bad Decision' was released in 2012 and the song is often subjected to criticism due to its reference to the Islamic phrase "Allahu Akbar." Fans expressed their disappointment for RM supporting Ocean's song, whereas, several fans have defended him as well.

3. Jimin's T-shirt with a picture of Japan's atomic bomb explosion

Jimin once wore a t-shirt which featured a picture of Japan's atomic bomb explosion. As per reports, BTS' agency BigHit Music had to publicly apologise after this controversy.

4. BTS' plagiarism allegations

BTS member Jungkook's song 'Seven' was earlier accused of plagiarism and taking a portion from the song 'Fin. K.L's song 'Time of Mask'. BigHit Music issued a statement and clarified that they have not plagiarised anything.

5. Suga's comment about Covid-19

BTS member Suga tested positive for Covid-19 and fans send their heartfelt wishes for his speedy recovery. But the singer received a backlash after he thanked Covid-19 as he was able to complete his album. He received criticism online as many netizens said his statement was ignorant.
