It's a common practice for Amazon and Flipkart to list the iPhone 15 at a lower price than what you will find directly from Apple.

If you are looking to buy a new iPhone, let's say the iPhone 15, and you want the best deal, chances are you might have considered e-commerce websites like Amazon or Flipkart. It's a common practice for Amazon and Flipkart to list the iPhone 15 at a lower price than what you will find directly from Apple.

For context, the base 128GB iPhone 15 is up for Rs 79,900 on Apple.com (which is the MRP of the product). On Amazon, it is currently available for Rs 70,500 and on Flipkart, at an even lower Rs 63,999. These prices keep fluctuating from time to time. Over and above these prices, you can get other discounts including bank cashbacks and exchange bonuses. Amazon is offering up to Rs 44,250 while Flipkart up to Rs 50,000 on exchanging your existing smartphone right now. These prices also keep fluctuating.

So, what's the catch?

The catch is that the maximum exchange value is reserved for a very specific model on both websites. The phone in question is the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Only the iPhone 14 Pro Max can fetch you Rs 50,000 on exchange on Flipkart and Rs 44,250 on Flipkart at the time of writing subject to its current condition of course. We don't recommend it however it does go to show how something that appears too good to be true often has a big con attached.

We put in some other models, just to be sure. The iPhone 14 Pro has an exchange value of Rs 41,650 while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are worth Rs 24,450 and Rs 27,550 on Amazon. Flipkart will give you more for your iPhone 14 Pro— up to Rs 48,000. Whatever be the case, know that iPhones, especially the pro models have the most value on e-commerce sites.

Flipkart doesn't usually list next-gen models like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and OnePlus 12, but Amazon happened to list them. Shockingly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an exchange value of just Rs 3,740. The regular S24 has the same value. So, does the Galaxy Z Fold 5, surprising to say the least. The OnePlus 12 16GB/512GB model has an exchange value of Rs 16,000 on Amazon.

Last year Samsung and OnePlus flagship devices have a bit more realistic exchange value. The Galaxy S23 Ultra can fetch you Rs 41,000 on Flipkart while the OnePlus 11 is worth Rs 25,500.

Either way, the best time to buy a new iPhone is during one of Amazon and Flipkart sales where on their own these platforms tend to offer beefy deals and discounts. Exchange bonuses should always be approached with a grain of salt.
