from South Africa have been nominated for the ICC Women's

Player of the Month

award for April 2024.

Athapaththu, the

ICC Women's ODI Cricketer

of the Year for 2023, continued her impressive form in the 50-over format, reclaiming the top spot in the ICC Women's ODI batting rankings.

She scored an unbeaten 195 against South Africa in a record run chase and accumulated 258 runs in the ODI series, along with 148 runs in the T20Is. Athapaththu also scored a half-century against Scotland in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi, where Sri Lanka secured their qualification.

Hayley Matthews, a previous winner of the

ICC Women's Player

of the Month and the current ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year, showcased her skills during the West Indies tour of Pakistan in April. She scored two ODI centuries and two consecutive half-centuries in the T20I matches against Pakistan, amassing a total of 451 runs. Matthews also excelled with the ball, taking 12 wickets in both formats combined.

Laura Wolvaardt, who is seeking her first Player of the Month award, had a remarkable series of performances in April. She scored a half-century in the final T20I against Sri Lanka and carried her form into the ODI series. Wolvaardt scored 41 in the first match, followed by an unbeaten 110 in the second, and then set a national record with a score of 184 in the final game, despite South Africa being outshone by Athapaththu's unbeaten 195.

In the men's category,

from Pakistan,

Gerhard Erasmus

from Namibia, and

Muhammad Waseem

from the UAE have been shortlisted for the

ICC Men's Player

of the Month award for April 2024. Afridi played a crucial role in Pakistan's drawn T20I series against New Zealand, taking eight wickets at an average of 10.00 and winning the Player of the Series award.

Erasmus led Namibia to a 3-2 series victory in Oman, scoring 145 runs and taking eight wickets. He was named Player of the Match twice for his all-round performances, including a half-century and a quickfire 64 not out in the series decider.

Waseem, the UAE skipper and opening batter, played a key role in his team's ACC Premier Cup triumph in Oman. He scored 269 runs at an average of 44.83, including a century in the final against the hosts. Waseem is aiming to become the first UAE cricketer to win an ICC Men's Player of the Month award.
