Mango has revealed plans to open more than 20 new stores this year as it looks to bolster its presence in the UK.

The Spanish fashion retailer's will grow its footprint in London and Scotland, as well as open in selected cities in Northern Ireland, central and southern England for the first times.

At least four new stores are planned for London.

The new Mango shops will incorporate its Mediterranean-inspired store concept, which it said reflects the "spirit and freshness" of the brand.

The retailer said sustainability and architectural integration are "key" to its new design and customers can expect to see different spaces with varying tones, colours and materials in store.

Mango director of expansion and franchising Daniel López said: "The UK is one of the priority markets for Mango's international growth.

"The increased presence in London and our arrival this year in some cities where we have not been present until now will consolidate the Mango brand and help us to strengthen it internationally."

The retailer teamed up with fashion designer Victoria Beckham last month to launch a new capsule collection as it marks its 40th anniversary this year.

It said the new line reflects "the essence of the designer's eponymous label, considered the perfect blend of classic British luxury with a subtle contemporary twist".
