Tesco has officially launched its new Clubcard Prices logo following a legal row with Lidl.

The supermarket was told to change the design for its loyalty scheme prices following a trademark battle, which centred around its use of a yellow circle on a blue background. Lidl had argued that this was too similar to its own logo. Tesco first teased the new Clubcard Prices design in mid-April, by changing the logo on its app - and now, it is rolling out the change across its stores.

Instead of a yellow circle, Tesco is now using a square design, made up of two rectangles, but with the same yellow and blue colouring. The yellow rectangle features the words "the power to lower prices" while the blue rectangle says "Clubcard Prices". Tesco confirmed the update in a post across its social media channels.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco Chief Commercial Officer said: "You may have noticed that our Clubcard Prices logo has changed, but what has not changed is the power of Clubcard to unlock great value at Tesco, including around 8,000 Clubcard Prices deals every week, on everything from clothing and homeware to ice cream and washing powder. We loved seeing our customers' ideas for the new logo, and that's why we've pulled out some of our favourites to share as the official one launches today."

It comes as Tesco warned shoppers they have just weeks left to use almost £17million worth of Clubcard vouchers before they expire. The vouchers, worth £16.9million in total, will no longer be valid to use after midnight on May 31. Tesco Clubcard vouchers are valid for two years, so these were first issued in May 2022. Clubcard vouchers can be used towards your Tesco shop, or you can double their value by using them with a Clubcard Reward Partner.
