Man and woman stabbed opposite station with busy road part shut

Two people are in hospital after being stabbed in North London this afternoon (Thursday, April 25). A woman in her 20s and a man in his 50s, who know each other, were attacked on Kilburn High Road opposite the Overground station around midday.

The woman was stabbed and the man suffered a slash wound to his hand. Both their injuries are non-life-threatening, said police. Paramedics were on the scene in under five minutes.

A 21-year-old was also taken to hospital before being taken to custody. He was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Metropolitan Police say their enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances. If you have any information, call police on 101 quoting reference number CAD2883/25APRIL.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12:01pm today (April 25) to reports of a stabbing opposite Kilburn High Road Station, NW6. We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and members of our tactical response unit.

"Our first paramedic was on the scene in under five minutes. We treated two people at the scene. We took one patient to a major trauma centre and one patient to hospital."

The incident near the London Overground station has part shut the road this afternoon.

Kilburn High Road is shut in both directions outside the station of the same name. The closure is between B509 Belsize Road and Cambridge Avenue.

There is congestion to Kilburn Park Road northbound, back to Willesden Lane southbound, according to traffic and travel monitoring site Inrix. There is queuing traffic in the area.

A police cordon is in place and police vehicles have been spotted at the scene.

Police urge witnesses to come forward

Following the stabbing this afternoon police are urging any witnesses to come forward. After the incident crowds gathered around the cordon on Kilburn High Road.

Both victims condition deemed non life threatening

After being rushed to hopsital and a major trauma centre by LAS, the condition of both the woman in her 20s and man in his 50s have been deemed as non life threatening.

A 21-year-old who has been arrested was also taken to hospital before being taken to custody.

A 21-year-old has been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and GBH. He has also been taken to hospital before being taken into custody.

Woman in her 20s stabbed

Police have confirmed that a woman in her 20s has been stabbed. A spokesperson for the Met said: "Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service (LAS) who treated a woman with stab wounds.

"The woman, in her 20s, has been taken to hospital. Her condition has been assessed as non life-threatening. Further enquiries found that a man, in his 50s, had suffered a slash wound to his hand.

"He was taken to hospital. His condition has been assessed as non life-threatening.

"The man and woman are known to each other."

Road reopened

Following the stabbing the road has reopened. According to traffic updating site Inrix the traffic has returned to normal after the closure.
