Meghan Markle has been spotted enjoying some downtime in Montecito, California, just days before Prince Harry's highly anticipated return to the UK. With the clock ticking down to Harry's departure across the Atlantic to Britain, Meghan was seen unwinding at a high-profile gathering in sunny California.

The Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at a networking soiree on Thursday (April 30) within the plush confines of her neighbourhood, Montecito. The event took place at the upscale Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel, where Meghan, donning a chic cream shirt and her hair styled in relaxed waves, took a front-row seat.

The venture capital firm Greycroft, known for collaborating with innovative entrepreneurs, hosted the affair. Casually elegant, Meghan's presence didn't go unnoticed as a fan captured the moment and promptly posted it on Instagram.

At the Greycroft event, growth investor Brian Bustamante-Nicholson addressed the crowd, highlighting that each attendee was handpicked because "we want to work with you as investors and entrepreneurs, and we can't wait to build with you all."

A social media user shared glimpses of Meghan's business-like demeanour at the event, captioning: "In Business Mode: Yesterday, Meghan attended an invite only event, featuring a curated guest list of selected individuals at the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel in Montecito, just a stones throw from the Sussexes home. Thanks to an amazing follower of mine for giving me the heads up."

The Duchess of Sussex has come under fire for opting out of accompanying Prince Harry to the UK for the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games.

The reasons behind her decision to remain in the US has not been disclosed, but royal commentator Tom Quinn speculated that she might be "holding grudges" against the Royal Family.

"Meghan will be accused of being selfish by not coming to see King Charles and Kate. Everyone in the UK knows what it's like to have a family row, but few of us take family rows to the extreme as Meghan has done," Tom told The News International.

He added: "People are beginning to ask why can't Meghan just grow up and accept that families fall out but that holding grudges is just selfish and immature."

Other claims suggest a lack of security in Britain will have been off-putting to bringing the entire family across, or that the Duchess is afraid of being booed.

Since stepping back from Royal duties four years ago, the Duchess of Sussex has rarely returned to the UK. She was present with Harry for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and for the Queen's funeral in September of the same year.

Yet, she chose not to accompany him for King Charles' coronation in May 2023.
