The Repair Shop TV presenter Jay Blades' wife has said, "I don't believe this is real", after announcing they had split up.

Lisa Marie Zbozen, 43, posted an emotional video on social media, in which she can be heard sobbing on Thursday.

The couple married in Barbados in November 2022 but Ms Zbozen, a fitness instructor, said she and her husband couldn't make their relationship work.

In a post shared on Instagram Ms Zbozen can be heard saying: "I'm going to try this for the 40th time without crying.

"I still don't even believe that this is actually real. If you knew how much I loved my husband and how much I have tried to make this work…I just wanted it so much and I couldn't be enough, I couldn't seem to get it right, ever."

Ms Zbozen then thanked "everybody who has sent me things to read", adding: "It's been really helpful because your mind wanders into memories as opposed to facts."

She added: "Big breaths. One day at a time right. I should be angry but I'm just sad."

Ms Zbozen is BBC star Blades' second wife and pictures of their Barbados wedding were featured in Hello! magazine.

On Tuesday, Blades said he would be leaving social media temporarily after the recent death of his uncle. Richard Brathwaite, 72, was allegedly stabbed by a neighbour in Wembley, north London, on March 21.

Blades, 54, received an MBE in 2021 and attended the Coronation after bonding with the King over their shared love of craftsmanship.

Announcing the split on Thursday, Ms Zbozen said that she had left her husband last weekend and "it's still really raw".

She went on: "I wanted my husband to love me and keep me safe and I would love him right back but it just got worse and worse, until I grabbed a bag with a few things and I left."

Ms Zbozen is a personal trainer who runs an on-demand fitness app The Wkout, which offers bespoke training programmes.

Blades was contacted for comment.
