A "vibrant" and "kind" sister given a heart-wrenching diagnosis has received thousands of pounds worth of donations in the hopes she can seek alternative treatments that could save her life.

Amy Provost, from Looe, started a GoFundMe page for sister Jodi who was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. She said the cruel disease has spread to her ovaries and is unfortunately inoperable.

Speaking of her sister, she wrote: "As many of you will already know, our beautiful, kind, vibrant sister was diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 4 inoperable stomach cancer which has spread to her ovaries.

"In recent weeks, she has been seen by several different oncologists, all have given the same prognosis - that her type of cancer is incurable. The chemo that she has been offered by the NHS will be for palliative care only (it will only relieve the symptoms).

"We as a family have been endlessly researching alternative therapies. This has led us to work with some amazing private practitioners who have not only given her hope, but shown us many different approaches that could help Jodi to contain the cancer and stop any further spread.

"Through our research, we have found a private oncologist clinic in Istanbul who will work alongside her doctors in the UK to create a treatment plan that uses chemotherapy and other protocols which specialise in stomach cancer. To get to where we are now, Jodi has undergone extensive bloodwork which was sent to private labs in Germany.

"This has enabled us to choose the correct path for her own healing process. Up until now Jodi has been funding all of her private care, but we have now reached the point where we need to ask for help.

"Many of you have been very kindly asking us how you can help…So, here it is. The cost for Jodi's treatment is estimated to cost around £65,000.

"We realise that this is a HUGE ask, but she is our sister, so we will ask, and we will continue to do whatever we need to, to prolong her life - in any way that we can. Whatever you can give, will be so gratefully received.

"We (and Jodi!) thank you from the very bottom of our hearts - for your ongoing love, kindness and support." In just 24 hours the family has already raised £43,444 of the £65,000 goal. To view the fundraiser and donate, click here.

Also raising funds for Jodi, award-winning chef and BBC Great British Menu star Ben Palmer, of The Sardine Factory in Looe, is arranging a combined fundraising event with Charlie of MasterChef the professionals, also of the Sardine Factory and Nikos of Yamas. There are six days left before a draw is made, giving the winner the prize of having a meal for eight cooked for them by this amazing trio in the winner's own home.

Ben wrote: "Jodi is a fabulous person and so loved in Looe, we wanted to give something back to her and support her journey in getting her the treatment that she so deserves." See full details here.
