Ambassador ship returns to Portugal to search for missing crew member

Ambassador ship Ambience is searching off the coast of Portugal for a crew member who was reported missing this morning.

The ship was on its way from Lisbon to London when the captain was alerted that a member of staff had not reported for work.

Ambience had left Portugal at 3.25pm on Thursday afternoon, heading to London Tilbury at the end of a round the world cruise.

In a statement, Ambassador said: The crew member was reported missing shortly after breakfast today, 3 May, and could not be located at the beginning of their working day.

"The coastguard was informed after a full and thorough ship-wide search wwas conducted, and Ambience has now reversed course to retrace her route to the sear area where the crew member was last seen."

Cruisemapper shows the ship is now just off the Portuguese coast.

She was due to arrive in London on 5 May.

Ambassador said it was 'committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our crew and guests. 

"The search for the missing person is ongoing and remains our utmost priority."
