SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - When we think of spring, we think of blossoming flowers and trees.

However, for millions of Americans, the onset of spring also marks the beginning of a less pleasant season — allergy season.

In many regions of the country, spring allergies kick off as early as February and can linger until the early days of summer. This year, experts anticipate that the peak allergy season will last longer than usual.

The good news is that there are things you can do to manage seasonal allergies. The South Bend Clinic provides a pollen count tracker that helps monitor the pollen count daily.

For those with allergies, the Mayo Clinic recommends:

"I get really bad congestion, and I cough and sneeze a little bit," said Dominic Batthelia. "That's about all I do. I take Allegra or just whatever daily med I have and then just try to avoid it."

For those whose allergies are severe or not well-controlled with over-the-counter medications, seeking help from an allergist is important.
